Ahh free blogs. I could not do this here. It will not allow me do to the coding, so we will pull it from my another website page and see if this works! After clicking you can read the whole article, see the commercials and close it to navigate back here and make any comments. *sigh* I gotta pay to use the coding here.
Need a time waster? Here is a good one. Ad people think these are the "Ten Worst" Super Bowl commercials. Feel free to pass along your thoughts right here.
Here is the screenshow with links to the ads, if you want to view them. Obviously if on dial-up, you won't want to do that! As I edit and expand my comments, I see several more blog themes worthy of possible exploration... Why don't you share with us your thoughts?! The Count down follows the URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35059361/ns/business-business_of_super_bowl_xliv
10. GoDaddy.com, 'Shower,' 2009
My judgment: juvenile, but cute. We like it, don't see it as slutty AND we also use go daddy.com too.
9. Gatorade, 'Thirsty Dog,' 2008
My judgment: a little odd, but love the dog! The idea seems this is such good stuff, even dogs like it. I'm in no rush to try Gatorade again, it was just ok, to me, but I'll see if its improved one of these days.
8. Degree, 'Mama's Boy,' 2005
My judgment: also cute, but using/or changing to a deodorant is a risk... I don't buy that message. I liked the inaction heroes and 6 different guilt trips. That was funny.
7. Outpost.com, 'Gerbil Cannon,' 1998
My judgment: silly, but animal cruelty?...yeah right. I suspect "no gerbils were harmed" in the making of this commercial, but certainly do not know that as fact.
6. Holiday Inn, 'Class Reunion,' 1997
My judgment: give me a break. Offending transgender? Similar events have probably actually happened. I can see that in my mind. If it made you swear off of Holiday Inn, YOU've got the problem.
5. Apple, 'Lemmings,' 1985
My judgment: definitely dark, but bad? nahhhh. Of these ten commercials, I would however rate it the worst, but it was made in 1985, and commercials have become a lot more fun.
4. Snickers, 'Manly,' 2007
My judgment: the claim is "People reacted negatively" I want to know if sales dropped! I doubt it. Personally, whether homophobic or not, I liked it. People do react in weird ways. It was an exaggerated funny response. Another laugh. Politically correct is stupid. Honesty and communication are what are important. Stereotyping happens, is often how people think. But groups are groups and individuals are very different. I think we all probably have some facets that fit our group stereotype. If we truly reject stereotyping then we cannot use statistics can we?...
Protesting an unviewed commercial because it may be ""extraordinarily offensive and demeaning."? Give us a break protesters. Wait until you have something to protest!
Super Bowl commercials are fun! Traditionally we get to see the highest priced airtime purchased by companies who want our attention. This year the hype is over a commercial by Tim Tebow, the former American football quarterback for the Florida Gators. Without having even seen the 30 second commercial "... the New York-based Women's Media Center... was coordinating the protest with backing from the National Organization for Women, the Feminist Majority and other groups." The story, our source is posted below.
Our take is we look forward to the Tim Tebow talking about his mother and the choices she had to make. We look forward to makeing our own judgement about whether the ad is objectionable. We welcome your comments on the story posted below which led to this small blog entry. We also hope you will return to this site to post your own thoughts about the commercial, if you get the chance to view it.
Super Bowl controversy is nothing new. People seem to love controversy, yet it can drive people away from products, ideas and even social sites. But controversy stirs the emotions and creates a sense of involvement, and that is its allure. Advertisers know that if there is controversy they will get hits. The knife edge they ride is whether it will turn readers or viewers off. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Womens-groups-urge-CBS-to-drop-Tebow-Super-Bowl-ad-012510
''We turn not older with years, but newer every day.'' ~ Emily Dickinson ~
Emily speaks well and truly. Yet in the hurry of our world (and it has always been that way, I think) Only a few turn their minds inward. People choose the world over self growth. Ambition, power, wealth, greed all come to dominate the thinking process. Oh there are serious issues of survival, illness, paying the bills, paying out debt, keeping life going... but the world and ourselves become "newer every day."
New? How new? Ah, let me count the ways. There is that depth and breadth of feeling. Love is gained ... and lost ...every day. There are "raindrops on roses," waking in the morning, striving through the day , and not going "gentle into that good night" to list just a few.
Daily we may discover and develop new skills we can use. Daily we may find new insights about ourselves and those we love. Daily we have opportunities to share, to help, to develop something new to us. Each day is new. And each day, each of us may offer somethimg new for the world in which we all live.
"Life is but Life! And Death but Death! A Bliss is but Bliss, and Breath but Breath! And indeed if I fail At least, to know the worst, is sweet! Defeat means nothing but Defeat! no drearier can befall And if I gain! ...."
Direct TV Earns a Lawsuit jdb_educator Personal Opinion, yeah "An Editorial"
This is a personal opinion piece and does not represent - in any way- Cybertown, Responsibility lies with the Editor and sole author named above.
We have one reply and have figured out a fun way to do this, but we are not quite ready for publication. so look for Toila's reply in tomorrow's news!
We wrote: We laughed as we read this story and many of the posters under this article. We are "subscribers" and totally agree with the lawsuit and all 16 of the possible charges. Both Direct TV and Dish TV have been the focus of many investigations, here in the US. DishTV was wise to settle, Direct TV seems not to have the sense to do so. We belive-and hope- it is going to cost them big time! We celebrate the action underway by the Attorney General of Washington State! Read below to see all the fun. Dish TV's settlement is one reason why they are now more "customer friendly".

We grabbed a free site to set this up to learn what we can do. Interactivity has been missing from CVN News and it's time we drug ourselves into the future present...
